I’ve spent over 20 years behind the camera. Steadicam, handheld, long days, longer shoots. I love this job. I also know exactly what it does to your body. I’m a qualified personal trainer and a member of the ACO. Giving back to this industry matters to me - I designed a handheld operating workshop to share what two decades of experience taught me about body mechanics and technique, so others could benefit from what took me years to learn. Everything I’ve figured out about training, nutrition and longevity, built into something that works for the specific demands of this job. For years I trained the way most people do - hard, inconsistent and without a real plan. I was fit enough, or so I thought. By the time I hit 40 the truth was harder to ignore. I was overweight, moving badly and running on habits rather than progress. So I changed everything. I found the right coach, educated myself properly and built a system that actually worked. I lost the weight, built real strength and discovered what mobility training could do for a body that had spent decades absorbing the load of this job. At 45 I feel stronger, more capable and more resilient than I did at 30, on set and off. That shift changed how I saw everything - not just training, but nutrition, recovery and what it actually means to be physically prepared for a long career in this industry.
